That Detour is God’s Preparation Road

We went to the movies Sunday afternoon with friends. It’s just a short trip down the interstate to the theater. Except the traffic is extremely slow on that length of highway due to construction. So we had to travel down some back roads and through a small town on the river to avoid the congestion. Even though it seemed very out of the way it turned out much quicker than going the shortest route.

We sometimes think that the road we’re on is surely not the right way. But then we arrive at God’s plan for our lives and we see that He knew all along where we needed to go to get to where He needed us to be.  Our detours are actually part of His divine plan. The secret is to trust God in the process.

Oh beloved, isn’t it wonderful to know that God knows what He’s doing? You may be thinking that you will never get to His destination for you. But He’s right on time – with His direction, with His detours and with His ultimate plans. Following God’s will isn’t always the straightest route, but it’s always the safest way to go. Even though you want to struggle and gain control, it’s not time to be frustrated. It’s time to see the scenery, enjoy the ride and praise Him in the adventure. Your destiny is as secure as your trust in His wisdom. You’re not meant to keep wandering aimlessly but you are meant to stay under His authority. Every step of the way isn’t always pretty but the arrival at His plan for you is out of this world! Now is the time to rehearse the truth – about the trip, about His plans and about who you are in Christ. It doesn’t matter how long because you are fully equipped and clothed with strength and dignity. God won’t leave you in the backroads because your price is far above rubies. You don’t have to succumb to fear or worry because you are precious and honored in God’s sight. The King who gave the greatest ransom ever for you – His Son on the Cross- will surely get you to your destination! It’s time to rejoice in the eternal plans of God for you and worship Him because He is the one who made you and planned your life before you were even a seed in the womb! Blessed, chosen, fashioned, redeemed, prepared, anointed and appointed! You are on your way and you will get there! And on the way you will stay securely on High with Him!

God loves you and He’s for you! Run to Him this morning and thank Him for the detours, thank Him for the plans and thank Him for His ultimate redemptive story of your life! This is the time for you to regain your composure and give Him the Glory as you travel in the Light of His Glory & Grace!

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
