Forged in Fire

We don’t have a lot of tv time but one show we’ve watched recently is Forged in Fire. In each episode, four bladesmiths compete in a three-round elimination contest to forge bladed weapons, with the overall winner receiving $10,000 and the day’s championship title. It’s not an easy thing for these knife makers to produce something quickly that is also good. It takes time and heat and work for a knife to come forth out of a piece of metal.

At the same time I was texting with a friend on the phone. We were talking about a plan we had for something good, her new job and inevitably the conversation went to the power of prayer. During our talk I said these words:  “Prayer is the anvil that forges all change.”

Oh beloved you need to know right now this moment that your prayers are making change in the heavenlies. Even the weakest prayers are profound. The strength of your prayers is not in the presentation but in the One You are presenting your petitions to! The enemy hates your prayers so you are already aware of tactics to get you to quit. But you also know – prayer changes the one who prays. Prayer changes the ones you pray for. Prayer is really being in the Presence with God and His fire is forming your prayers for His glory! I understand that you might want to give up and quit showing up at the anvil. It’s hot in the forge. The fires of holiness lick at everything not of God. But beloved, keep praying! Keep seeking God’s face. Keep looking for His handiwork to start showing through. He has a plan and His plan is good oh so good! It does take time with God, the refiner’s fire and true intercession. But God has you covered so that all of the pressure and heat and prostration work glory and power!

God loves you and He’s for you! While God is not bound by your prayers (or your prayerlessness) He does want to have an intimate relationship with you in the secret room of His presence. Run to Him this morning and tell Him everything! Rejoice that even though your hand is to the fire God is forging something beautiful in your life as you live in the light of His Presence in prayer!

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
