You’re Not Locked In the Past

Blonde jokes abound. One in particular comes to mind this morning. A blonde woman is stuck in her car and calls Onstar. The car is locked and she can’t figure out what to do. The Onstar assistant tells her to try the door handle. To her amazement it opens right up. All she had to do was try the door and the locks unlock from the inside!

We think how dumb. But we are so like the girl in the car. I’ve been there. Stuck between the past and the future. We call out to God and discover He’s already given us the power to unlock our life and open the door to new things. Sometimes we just want to sit and remember the past, but God is moving on! Are we going to get out and go on with Him?

Oh beloved, today is a day of new things. You aren’t locked away from God’s love or His presence. You aren’t stuck in your situation without help. And God isn’t holding you back. Open the door! Get out of the car and move on into the new things of God. You were doing what you knew was right and now you’re not sure what to do. Move out and move up! Yes there’s been trauma – but God is the Healer of all trauma. Yes there’s been disappointment – but God takes disappointment and turns it into His appointment. Yes you’ve had a rough go – but God is smoothing out the rough places before you. It doesn’t matter what happened yesterday for God is with you today! And He’s always lifting you up and out and into – Up from the grave of yesterday, out to the plans for today and into your destiny! Even if everyone else is going in the same direction you are being called to a new and living way. Even if no one came to your aide or had your back in the fiery trail – God is with you and He is always going to protect you, provide for you and prepare you for the new thing He is calling you into. Don’t sit in the car of yesterday, even if it was good. You are blessed, chosen, redeemed, and anointed for the fresh work of God that is churning up and being born in the world today. You don’t have to call on a stranger for remote assistance; you have access 24/7 to the King of Kings who is with you wherever you go! Strength to move on happens as you open the door and don’t look back! Power comes as you unlock your heart to new things in Christ! You may not understand right now, but one day it will become apparent. In the meantime your destiny is not in yesterday. In the meantime God’s plans for you outshine the sun!

God loves you and He’s for you! That’s enough to unlock your heart and throw open your mind to His calling! He hasn’t changed His mind about you so you are free to go forward with passion and joy as you live in the Light of His Present Day Calling and Plan!

John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

Isaiah 54:6 For the Lord has called you back from your grief— as though you were a young wife abandoned by her husband,” says your God.

2 Corinthians 3:17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Colossians 2:6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him.

Isaiah 41:9 I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
