God’s Proving Grounds

Nightmares dotted my childhood. Some of them were merely scary moments, others were true terrors. During the worst of those nightmares I would always call out for my mother. Except the words would not come. Try as I might, I couldn’t make a sound other than to moan and mouth the word momma.

There are times we are in nightmares of life. We attempt to cry out for help but the words don’t come. We cry out about the absurdity of the situation and yet we get no relief. We find ourselves in a proving ground. Will we walk on through the nightmare to the promise? Will we keep on believing God in the face of absolute impossibility? Or will we wake ourselves up and say it is what it is and walk away. Will we decide that it’s not worth the effort?

God speaks to my heart. The most treacherous unbelievable moments of life are the proving grounds of faith.

Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning that you are in a proving ground. You’re not destined to lose anything, rather you are destined to gain a leap of faith. This horrendous situation is a momentary light affliction. Nobody else in all the world may believe what you’ve been believing for. And now you may be tempted to say it truly is impossible. But as you linger in prayer, praying in the spirit and leaning into the intercessor’s walk, you will find that answers do come. Pray for yourself! Pray for your situation! Pray for help and keep praying. God wants you to fear no evil. Even if He doesn’t speak to you His Word is there – all neatly tied up in love just for you. If you’re the only one who believes God answers prayer, then keep believing. Each of us must ultimately decide if we are going to believe God or walk away. Trust God and believe that your proving ground is the most sacred place you know.

God loves you and He’s for you! That’s why you know this proving ground is your pathway to the fruit of answered prayer. It’s the gauntlet between the problem and the promise. There’s much in the Spirit that is happening even when there’s nothing in the flesh you can see. God hears everything and He listens and He answers. Right on time, just as the wakening moment from a nightmare comes right on time. Rejoice that you believe God and it is reckoned to you as righteousness as you live in the Light of His beautiful Word.

Lamentations 2:19 Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him in prayer, pleading for your children, for in every street they are faint with hunger.

Psalm 106:24 The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe His promise to care for them.

Galatians 3:6 In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”

I John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. Amplified

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
