Praying? Then You’re a Warrior!

We went to the movies to see War Room with friends several months ago. What an awesome movie. Many of you have seen it by now. The story revolves around the prayer life of Miss Clara in her war room – the place she chose to do her intercessory prayer. Her zeal for prayer is magnificent and she shares that zeal with a young wife who has found herself in a troubled marriage.

It’s a good thing to remember that Miss Clara didn’t start out a prayer warrior. Not until her own husband died did she finally see the need for prayer. By her own admission prayer was not her first thought for her own marriage and the husband who had much need of prayer. She didn’t start out as who she ended up being – that prayer life was developed over the years.

Oh beloved, if you’ve ever prayed one tiny, helpless, weak prayer then you are a Miss Clara. If you’ve ever sought God’s face for something you couldn’t accomplish on your own then you too are a Prayer Warrior! It’s not about the room or the chair or the notes on the wall. It’s about seeking God’s face and going to the secret place of intercession for yourself and others. It’s time to quit lamenting that you’re not like her and start rejoicing that God hears you when you pray! Let me say that again – God hears you when you pray! He knows your situation, He knows your loved ones, He knows your life. He sees you steal away in the car, in the kitchen, in the bathroom. He hears your cries while pulling weeds, driving kids, standing in line and washing clothes. He sees you on your knees even when you can’t get there in the flesh, your heart is knelt before Him. And you can be sure that if God hears you and He does that He is working out the answers beyond your wildest imagination. Keep praying! Keep asking! Keep seeking! Keep knocking! He understands the desperate prayer, the effective prayer, the heartfelt prayer and the weakest prayer. He is with you and He is always hearing your heart cries. One day, at just the right time, your answers will appear. The prodigal will return, the tide will turn, the hand of God will move. In the meantime, God is molding you into someone you never thought you could be. He’s not molding you into Miss Clara, He’s molding you into Jesus, who knew the power of prayer. He’s taking you from the living room to Gethsemane. He’s changing you in prayer because one touch from Him changes everything! If God calls you to make a prayer room, then by all means do it, but know that God calls you to pray without ceasing and that’s everywhere anytime about everything.

God loves you and He’s for you! That’s why you pray. He loves those you pray for as well, even more than you love them. That’s why you pray. He hears every prayer, bottles every tear, notes every situation. And He loves to move on behalf of those who are lifted to Him in prayer. God bless you richly with the knowledge that wherever you pray you are making a difference in the heavenlies and on earth as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

I Timothy 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Matthew 7:7 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
