Rest In Spite of What’s Going On

We kept three grandchildren last night so that the parents could go visit someone in the hospital. It was fun and tiring all at the same time! We had a trip to the store, supper to prepare and eat, baths to take and then ice cream to eat. Since the parents were going to stay out till after bedtime we decided we might ought to rest at least. It took a while but eventually everyone settled down on their spot on the couches. As soon as they got quiet and still two were asleep.

Oh beloved are you having trouble sleeping? Have you been so busy that you find it hard to find a moment to even rest? God wants you to know this morning that He is your rest. And He will give you sweet rest. You weren’t meant to lose sleep over things you cannot fix. You weren’t meant to work yourself into a frenzy and be so tired. Rest always comes when you lay all your cares at the Savior’s feet. Peace always comes when you roll things onto The Prince of peace. Often it’s a simple fix – just remember and rehearse who God is and what His benefits are. Combine that with a comfortable understanding of His love and generosity. Pretty soon you’ll find yourself resting in spite of what’s going on around you.

God loves you and He is for you. The more you know him the more you will trust him. The more you trust him the greater peace you will have and easier you will be able to rest. Get to know him spend plenty of time in his word and in prayer and in fellowship with him. He will give you everything you need so that you can rest and be renewed for a new day to walk in His incredible mercy and grace!

Psalm 4:8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you alone, Oh Lord, make me to dwell in safety.

Philippians 4:7 and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2John 1:3 Grace mercy and peace, which come from God the father and Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
