Today’s Post – Sounds of Trouble? God’s Only a Prayer Away

As I was sitting in the living room before daylight yesterday morning I heard a shot or two. Then I heard a series of quite a few shots. In fact there were so many that I was about to go upstairs and tell my husband about it. It just didn’t sit well with me. Before daylight you can’t really see anything to shoot. After what seemed like 20 rounds or so were discharged, all went silent. I have to admit the thought crossed my mind that someone was on a rampage and might they come down my street next. I was unsettled to say the least. But I found great comfort in knowing that I had someone to go to for comfort if it had continued. Most likely they were bothered by a wild animal in the yard.

We always have Someone to go to for comfort no matter what is going on and no matter where we are.

Oh beloved, the sounds of the trouble may be all around you. You may even think that satan is on a rampage. It’s certainly true that he is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He shoots his fiery darts at random and doesn’t care who gets hurt. But you are not alone. You are not defenseless. You are not left to your own ability to stay safe, find shelter and get comfort. Even when those you love are raging, fighting, hurting, in trouble or just out of God’s will, you can be assured that you have immediate access to the Lord. Your enemy is in no way more powerful than your Savior. The safest place you’ll ever be is in the prayer closet of faith. It’s not a space but a place. The ultimate victory of your life is that you go to the Lord in prayer for everything and everyone.

You may be praying right now for a loved one to return to the God of their childhood. God is totally aware of your prayers and the enemy is held back as well. It may look bad. Just as those shots looked like someone was out of control, so too satan seems out of control. But your prayers are chains that bind him and your prayers are what looses those you pray for from the enemy’s hand. Don’t give up now. Remember who you are in Christ. You are not full of fear but you are full of power, love and self discipline. Power to stand in the face of fear, love to stay the course in prayer and self discipline to believe God rather than the lies of the shooter in the night.

God loves you and He’s for you. Power words for living beloved! No one else loves you and cares for you like Jesus. He’s the one who answers your prayers, loves you no matter what, cares for you even when you are sleeping and gives you the anointing and authority to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of the Lord. Rejoice that you are completely covered and go forth in confidence as you march in victory with the Light of His Glorious Word!

2 Timothy 2:17 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. Amp

1 John 4:16 We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him. Amp

Hebrews 10:35 Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. Amp

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

  1. That verse from 2 Timothy is one that I return to time and time again – remembering that His spirit is within us and His strength is exchanged for ours. Thanks for the encouragement today.
