There she was on the corner of the road. The cardboard sign with the same message seen everywhere “need money” scratched out. She looked forlorn standing there in the heat. She’s a beggar, a panhandler and who knows what else. It’s her job, we’re told as we tried to make eye contact with her. Her job is to beg.
Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning that your job is to worship Him! Your job is to become like Him. Your job is to live in His light and be a lighthouse for others to see their way to Him! You may be having troubled times trying to make ends meet but God will not have His daughters or sons begging for what He promises to provide. You don’t have to beg the world to believe, you don’t have to beg people to love you, you don’t have to stand on the corner hoping that Jesus might pass by. Once you were a beggar without the garments of praise, without the manna from heaven, without living water flowing from your innermost being and without hope or purpose. But not anymore. No matter what you are going through, BELOVED, you are loved, cared for, watched over, guided and protected all the days of your life! Don’t return to the beggar’s lifestyle for you are clothed with dignity and you are destined to laugh at the future without fear! You were once a hermit, fearful to walk outside the confines of your own mind, but now you are set free to dance in the Father’s love! You may once have had issues, mentally trying to make it all make sense, but you now have the mind of Christ! You no longer carry a cardboard sign with a beggar’s message. God now displays a banner over you – and it is LOVE! The LORD says you are thoroughly furnished unto every good work as you show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light!
God loves you – He loved you then as you stood begging, He loves you now as you learn to live loved and He will always love you no matter what. God is for you – He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He brought salvation to you while you stood on the corner without hope or a future and He is always going to take care of you. Rejoice in His favor, reject the old lies of the enemy that you aren’t worthy, can’t do it or won’t make it. And live a lively faith filled life in the Light of His glory & grace!
