I dreamed last night that I was snake bit. I looked down between the cars in our driveway and his head was coming out from under one of them. I was evidently looking out the window. I reached down with a butter knife and tried to get it on his head. He struck once. I felt no pain and I thought wow, he missed. Then I got up and looked at my hand and two small punctures appeared on one of my fingers. And all up along my arm were splashes of poison and that too caused injuries all along my arm. There was more to the dream but this is the part that God speaks to my heart for us today.
Just as a butter knife won’t cut the head off a snake, we can’t use fleshly means to render the devil useless. He’s a real menace and his venom is deadly. If we try to make light of the depth of his abilities we’ll be injured. But we are not in a dream and God has given us excellent weapons to fight his strikes and keep his venom from causing us harm. Just as in the dream my arm was even affected by the venom that spewed out, so too the enemy’s damage goes much farther than we can see at first glance.
Oh beloved, the Word of God is your number one weapon of choice. Get to know what the Word says about the Lord, about you, about the enemy, and about our weapons.
Use the Word of God the way God intends it to be used. Don’t grab a butter knife when you are in the fight of your life. By knowing the Scriptures and understanding God’s ways you will be able to defeat the wiles of the enemy and literally cut his venomous head off! No weapon formed against you will prosper. We have more weapons to use as well – worship fends off even the small unseen attacks. Praise sends the darkness fleeing! Prayer is one more magnificent weapon – for when you are spending time with the Lord these times of prayer are battle discussions, truth impartations and readiness plans. Trust in the Lord and watch for Him always! We don’t keep our eyes on the enemy but when we see his tactics we know what to do. You don’t have to fear the enemy, God tells us not to. But you do have to know how to defend your faith. You can’t just keep taking hits from the snake from the Garden and think it’s just part of life, you deserve it, you asked for it or you can’t count on God. These last days the weaponry of the King and His kingdom will become more and more important for you and those you love.
God loves you and He’s for you. This is no passive, hope you make it, I’ll say a prayer for you kind of love and care! He is in you, He is with you, He is over you with His loving care! That’s why you can trust God, you can reach out to Him when you are injured and you can wield the Sword of the Spirit along with praise and worship and prayer. Rejoice that you are not destined to be a victim, but your destiny is victory through the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of your testimony as you learn to wield the weapons of the Spirit life as you move forward in the Light of His powerful Truth!
2 Corinthians 6:7 We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.

James 4:7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. AMP
2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.
Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
