Life in The Spirit Helps with Extremes in Life

god reigns

The weather has sure changed in our area. You could say we’ve seen extremes. We have gone from too much rain and medium to almost chilly temperatures to bright sun and high temperatures. What was cool for may has now turned to hot for this time of year. The extreme change has us hopping. We’re thankful the yard is drying out, but the a/c is churning for all it’s worth to keep up with the 90’s during the day. I asked Danny if there was a place that kept mid 70’s year round and if there was I wanted to live there! As we say in Arkansas, if you don’t like the weather, just hold on a few minutes, it will change!

Life has its extremes too. We want to avoid them at all costs. With every high and low in life we tend to become high spirited or low down in our thinking. We’d like to have things steady and average. How do we keep up with the swings in life? How do we keep from wildly swaying in spirit with every change that comes our way?

Oh beloved, life in the Spirit will keep the temperature of your heart level even when hard things want to bring you low. You may not be able to change the seasons that come your way but you don’t have to succumb to forces beyond your strength. God wants you to know that He is in charge even when it looks like things are wildly chaotic. Even when there’s a whirlwind of fear or trepidation around you, your heart can remain steady. You are not destined to swing with every change. You are destined to live in the Spirit and by His guidance. There are hard seasons you will have to weather. And there is no magic place where everything is even and comfortable all the time here on earth. But with God’s guidance and watchful care you can know that even in the heat of troubles He is with you. Even in the chill of adversity you are protected and can be at peace. The Lord knows everything you’ve been through and everything you are facing. But He can be trusted even when storm clouds move in. The same God who is with you in the sunny joyful days is with you in the overcast days of sorrow. What you can’t change, God can change in the blink of an eye.

God loves you and He’s for you. Isn’t it wonderful to know that you are not chained to your circumstances? Your life is a magnificent display of God’s steady, constant presence! You are not a weather beacon, you are a beacon of Light from the Holy Spirit, even showing others that all these things are temporary. You don’t have to worry what kind of weather your loved ones are in either. Your prayers in the storm are making changes in the atmosphere even as you speak. So speak wisely and valiantly! Speak out the true nature of God and watch as all things work together for your good because you don’t live in the circumstances. You live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

Psalm 43:5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

Psalm 46:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

Mark 4:39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

Matthew 7:25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.”

Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
