Rivers of Living Waters!

Our Scripture Focus for the Week at #NorthwestU is John 7:37-38 "If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water".

We have had so much rain. Too much rain in many areas. As I hear hard rain falling again this early morning I wonder where it will all go. The yard is a lush forest of green and our back yard is flowing with the abundance of runoff. The grass is growing so fast you can almost see it grow. To think that not that long ago we were in drought conditions seems foreign now. Will this rainy season come to an abrupt stop or can we count on it to flow perpetually?

God speaks to my heart. This is how life in the Spirit is: a continual flow of rivers of living water. Although the rains of this season may cause problems, God’s Spirit only gives the very best. The Holy Spirit gives nourishment and in His presence we grow in our walk and in our faith. Without His presence we are dry and find no place to rest. In the absence of Holy Spirit we are bereft of growth and without purpose. Just as the gardens need rain to produce vegetables, we too need the Holy Spirit’s flow to produce spiritual fruit in our lives.

Oh beloved, are you enjoying the River flowing in your life? Did you know you can live with the continual springs of life pouring into your heart? Have you tapped into the Reservoir of His abundance and overflow? You can have God’s presence, even in the dry seasons! Unlike the rain that is here for now and may be gone next week, God stays with us always. Christ saves us, God justifies us and the Holy Spirit flows through us. Here is where you have your abundant living. Here is where you have strength in the weary times, hope in the sorrowful times and blessings in the dry seasons. And unlike the rains of earth that can cause problems and leave damage behind, God’s Holy Spirit is always available and lives within the heart of the believer. Your life is so blessed! You’ve not been saved from sin’s wrath and left to make it on your own. You don’t have to produce your own spiritual gifts or callings. In fact you cannot do a thing without Holy Spirit indwelling. The flow of the Holy Spirit in your life will keep you from ever being thirsty or hungry the rest of your life. Because of the River of Life flowing through you, you can do valiant exploits for the Kingdom and you can remain steadfast in God’s love always. Even those hurtful times in your life when you feel you cannot go on will be washed away in His loving care. Your life is not the sum of those things that have sought to sweep you away, but rather the abundance of God’s Presence and Provision no matter what.

God loves you and He’s for you – so much that He has given you a Comforter, to watch over you, guide you and keep you all the days of your life. We want the rain to stop, but nothing is so refreshing as God’s Spirit living and moving through us! Rejoice in His Presence and walk with purpose, freedom and growth as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”

Jeremiah 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water.

John 4:14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.
John 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
