The first thing that comes to mind to me this morning is that comfort is the motto of the American believer. From comfort foods to comfortable houses, we all want as much comfort as we can find. We will go to great lengths to make our lives comfortable.
Not just comfort in the flesh, but we want comfort in the heart too. We look far and wide to find people who will make us feel better about ourselves and shield us from the adversities of life.
Comfort for a baby is a pacifier and a soft shoulder. We have to admit it that we too want to be babied and pacified and cuddled.
Oh beloved, there is One who is the God of All Comfort! Every need you have is met in Him. Every hope, every problem, every discomforting moment is soothed by His Presence. He is truly all we could ever need. Even when we look to other things, He is wooing us with His love to come to Him and quit laboring and being heavy laden with the cares of the world. He knows we seek comfort and He knows we’ll seek it everywhere else. But He’s fixed our hearts so that the emptiness of life can only be filled with Him.
God loves you and He’s for you. What a comfort! What a blessing! What knowledge too wonderful to speak – this King of Glory, the God of All Comfort, promises to be with us all the days of our life! Reach out to Him today and let Him comfort you like you’ve only imagined. He will comfort you, watch over you, guide you and keep you all the days of your life. Set your heart and mind on Him as you live in the Light of His Comfort and Peace.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
Psalm 119:76 May your unfailing love be my comfort according to Your promises to Your servant.
