Trading My Sorrows and Everything Else!

Trading cards. If you have children or were a child you’ve had some. We have a few baseball cards sitting in a closet. I have the dreaded garbage pail kids of the 70’s sitting in my cedar chest. They were called trading cards because kids did just that – traded one for another in an exchange with friends. Nobody ever got a baseball card without having to give one up in the exchange.

Everyone gets handed a set of cards when they’re born. The family they’re born into. The hair color, eye color, and all those things are set and cannot be traded. Then there are the cards that are earned (learned) in life – sorrow, pain, rejection, worry, cares of the world, and more. But when someone is born again they are given a new set of cards. The cards are of the likes of love, joy, peace, blessings, freedom. There’s also acceptance and forgiveness and redemption and fulfillment. These are magnificent cards. Wouldn’t everyone want to trade for these?

Oh beloved, did you know you can exchange the cards you were dealt with the ones God is handing you this morning? Did you know that the cards Christ has handed to you are free, with no conditions, no take backs and no regrets? God is speaking to our hearts this morning – yours and mine. I think I’ll trade my sorrows for the joy of the Lord. (even Darrell Evans sings about trading!) We’d all love to trade rejection for acceptance. Who wouldn’t trade worry for peace? God is handing you everything in His Word – it’s yours for the trade. He wants you to run to Him this morning and hand Him the stuff that is holding you back and weighing you down. Old cards of the flesh and former life are extra weighted. They bear burdens in them that believers aren’t meant to carry. They are worthless. The new cards of the spirit life are light and airy and they are priceless. Yet Christ is more than willing to make the exchange – your worthless weighed down lifeless cards for His priceless light life giving cards!

God loves you and He’s for you! Rejoice as you spend time with the Father trading your sorrows, pain and remorse for His joy, pleasure and freedom! Jesus came to set you and I free from the law cards of sin and death! As we learn to live in God’s realm of truth we easily trade the burdens for the blessings. Run to Him this morning and begin the trading process and see how wonderful it is to live in the Light of God’s Glory and Grace – all which is found in His magnificent, wonderful Word!

Psalm 30:11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.

2 Peter 1:4 And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

John 3:27 John replied, No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.

Matthew 11:22 Take My yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
