I love watching spring unfold. Even though there is chance of a few more frosty mornings, things are beginning to sprout and bud and bloom. After a long winter the greens showing up here and there are so intense. My daughter texted me a few mornings ago to exclaim that her redbud tree was blooming. I looked at mine and saw no blooms. So I waited a couple of days and looked again. Sure enough small dots of purple were forming across the limbs. Finally, mine was blooming as well! I was thrilled to see one of the sure signs of spring in my own yard.
Oh beloved, you were born to bloom! Winter may have settled into your bones but spring is in your heart. Maybe you’ve seen how others are blossoming into their own ministry or vocation or family life and you wonder when you will enjoy the fruit of the promises of God. Hold on. You can’t see every bud or sprout or bloom until it’s well on its way. It may imperceptible to your eye, but God’s touch on your life is working even then. Don’t despair. Even in the winter of your life, God is there. He’s preparing your heart and tilling the ground of your life to make it ready for all that He has promised. You’re not behind anyone and you lack nothing. Even if others are enjoying their burgeoning life now, you can enjoy the present situation because God is with you! Even if the ground seems bare and lifeless, inside you the Holy Spirit is springing up a beautiful life of all the gifts and callings you could ever hope for. Let God take His time. Trust His timing. Everything in your garden is between you and Him. No need to compare what others are doing to what is going on in your life. Press in closer to Him as He warms your heart and mind and prepares you for it all.
God loves you and He’s for you. The King of the Universe, the Great I AM, is working all things out for your good and His glory! Trust His timing and let Him bless you even in the bare times. You are a showcase of His perfect will as you live in the warmth of His love. Seek His face, spend time in His Word, keep the prayers tilling the ground and watch as the first blossoms begin and you see His touch all around you. The more you hope for is coming and it’s going to be magnificent as you live in the Light of His glory and grace.

Colossians 2:6-7 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
