Grandkids love to run! Stella showed me “how girls run” the other day. It was different to say the least. She cracks us all up with her antics. It reminded me though that God says we are all in a race. But unlike most races, we are in our own race. There is no competition among God’s racers. We are all starting from the same point. We are all ending in the same place. We are all kept on track by the Lord Himself. He blew the start whistle, He alone judges how we do in this race. He doesn’t compare us with others. Neither can we compare ourselves with anyone. We are each single runners in a single race contending for our faith and nothing else.
Now when Stella and her brothers are racing together things go far differently. Someone will quit in the middle of the run, someone will start crying, someone will point the finger of blame and someone will announce themselves to be the winner, even if no one else follows through.
Oh beloved, God’s race of faith is like no other. When we go where He sends us, going at His pace, following His lead we don’t get tired, we don’t get distracted, we don’t falter and we sure don’t quit. It may look to you like someone else has the better track. It might appear that they are in better shape and more competent to run. But beloved, you have just what you need in just the right package to fulfill God’s track for you. You may wish your run was filled with friends and fun, but each one has their own race to win. As long as you are comparing yourself with others you will never feel good about yourself. Run your own race. God is judging your race by His standards alone and He always judges with love, mercy and grace. It takes the competitive edge out, because you are not competing. You are not comparing, you are concentrating on God. You can relax and enjoy your race because you don’t have to worry about what others have done during their race. You don’t even have to worry about what they’ve done to you. Don’t worry if you have to rest or get sidelined or forget where you are running. Holy Spirit presence will guide you, equip you, restore you and get you where you need to be right on time.
God loves you and He’s for you! Keep running. You can grab the hand of the Lord anytime you need to. You can stop and rest in His presence or start again if you falter. You are destined to win because you are not competing for the win, you are connected to the Only One Who can get you to the finish line. Rejoice and recharge as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
