Practice These Things

Pulling out old piano books, I found that one had notes pinned to it. These notes showed the dates of my lessons and the cost of those lessons as well as the payments made for them. My teacher was an older lady who had taught for many years. I wasn’t big on practicing. I could play by ear so I enjoyed the idea of playing more than the practice. There was one young man who took lessons right before me. One day I heard him practicing on a beautiful song. I had to play that. My teacher cautioned me that I could not do that one. It was too technical for my level. I persevered and she got me the sheet music for it. Since I was determined and desired to play that song, I practiced and practiced and practiced. Sure enough I could play it well. I amazed my teacher and myself! I can still play that song today.

We believers enjoy our walk of faith. We have a Father who is teaching us about Himself. We have the Word of God, our lesson book, to help us learn how to live skillfully. What we want is to play just well enough to enjoy it, but not so well that it will cost us time and effort. We can keep playing at a very elementary level. Some of what we know is learned by ear. But the beautiful music we play in our faith life is only learned by spending much time with the Father, practicing His presence and practicing the notes of the Word over and over again.

Oh beloved, what do you want to do? Are you longing to have a stronger faith and a deeper anointing? Do you envy those who seem to walk more intimately with God? If you are willing to pay the price God will give you the deeper things of Him. God will lead you. If you desire more He will make a way for you to excel in your faith walk! Start focusing on the Lord. Even if someone has told you that you will never excel in the Spirit they are wrong. You will be amazed at what the Lord will do with your small talent as you practice His presence daily.

God loves you and He’s for you. His Spirit is wooing you to spend more time with Him. Christ went to the cross to affect your relationship with God and increase your gifts and callings. Trust Him today and begin to practice His presence as you live in the Light of His glory and grace!

Psalm 86:11 Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

Psalm 26:3 for I have always been mindful of Your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on Your faithfulness. NIV

Psalm 32:7 For You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.

Philippians 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Psalm 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

  1. Practicing His presence…so lovely! I enjoyed the comparison to the time and dedication of piano playing…something I wish I could do when I hear beautiful worship songs. Great post!

Could really relate to this post, Rebekah. For me, It has been committing
things to memory i.e. Scripture, poetry, etc. Some of those items committed
to memory remain on the tongue & are meditated on often.
