We drove home from a birthday party in the rain yesterday evening. There were remnants of snow here and there to remind us of the weather we have had. With the winter storm watch on our phones this morning, many of us are wondering if we’ll ever be completely rid of the mess. It’s past time to move on to spring. Those remains of snow in the shadows and lumps that were once snowmen keep us thinking about the wintry mess we’ve had.
Our memories of hard times and rough spots can play havoc with our minds. What if’s surface. What if hard times return? What if it gets worse? What if we have to relive something we’d rather forget? What if others never let us forget what we’ve been through? What if’s will come in like henchmen of the enemy and eat away at our faith if we allow them to.
Oh beloved! You are not destined to repeat yesterday’s sorrows or mistakes! You are destined to move on in Christ! He has come to redeem you from all that. It is indeed time for you to move on! Don’t let the enemy of your soul speak lies into your heart. Don’t allow a single what if to enter your mind and never speak it aloud! If you’ve got to speak, speak faith! Speak the Word! Speak the Truth of God’s hand on your life. You’re not the sum of the weather report over your life. The remnants of past mistakes and the report of future fears are not your concern. Your only concern is living in the Presence of the One Who made a way for you to sleep soundly and look forward to a future filled with His glory.
God loves you and He’s for you. The very reports and troubles that seem so major today will not even have a remnant in heaven. Don’t rehearse your past mistakes or hardships. Remind yourself that you are redeemed, ransomed, restored and blessed! Stop wringing your hands and lift them in praise! God is with you and He will work it all out for your good and His glory. Live in warmth of the Son and rejoice that new days are arriving for you to live in the Light of His glory and grace!
