Oh Pioneer! Rejoice in God!

We could not believe that yesterday we got another dusting of snow. Just enough overnight as well to cover the tracks in the old snow on our back deck. That covering prompted me to check the radar and see that snow was indeed marching across our area, even though it was light compared to the last few days. I then looked at the extended outlook and I see nothing but rain for the next 5 days. Being a lover of sunshine and warmer weather, I could get depressed over the forecast. I’m done with this weather. I am reminded of those pioneer women who lived without other female companionship and when those harsh winter winds blew, their windowless cabins and meager lamplight surely made for much sorrow and loneliness.

You’ve been through more than a dusting of trials. You feel as though you’ve been going out west on a wagon train and now you live on the prairie of tribulations. You’ve had enough. You are done with this series of events. By now you are looking ahead and all you see is more hardship in the forecast. How could things ever change? It’s been a rough go and you cannot see any way that the weather of life could change.  You feel just like those pioneers on the prairie – lonely, alone, worn out and you can barely see in the dimness of it all.

Oh beloved, it’s time to remind yourself of the truth! No forecast is the same forever! You are not destined for disaster, you are a pioneer of the faith! What you are going through now is just preparation for the bright light of God’s glory! The light resides in your heart, the glory of God is with you wherever you go and whatever you must go through. You may be done with the situations and circumstances, but you’re not done with God! You may feel alone, but you don’t have to be lonely. Holy Spirit presence resides in you to give you power to overcome the loneliness you may feel. You may be tired, but you don’t have to be worn out.  God’s strength is renewed as you wait on Him to get you through it all. Don’t let the enemy of your soul pronounce a disastrous future. Your forecast is bright and sunny because it is secure at the Cross!

God loves you and He’s for you. Rejoice in what God has given you. Resist the enemy’s desire to depress, discourage, and give you despair. Your faith will not be dismantled for you are living proof of the overcoming life as you live in the Light of God’s Word!

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
