The purse I carried for a good while was just too small. I needed something bigger to carry all my junk. Well, I got something bigger. I now carry a bag large enough to carry a small child in it! Seriously, it is big. The problem I now have is the hunting for what I want to retrieve out of it. It’s very easy to put lots of stuff in it. More stuff than I need. Deep in the recesses of this bag I can forget what’s in there. I really think stuff hides in there. What I really need is often hidden by the stuff I don’t need! I think it’s time to clean it out and see if we can’t start all over.
There are things we all carry around with us that we just don’t need. The weight of them pulls at our shoulders and bows us down. We need to clean out our minds and hearts of the clutter God never meant for us to carry. Inside the deep recesses some things we might find are self-rejection, criticism, fears of all kinds, unforgiveness, procrastination, disobedience, grudges, perfectionism and people pleasing just to name a few. These are things we cannot get out of our bags on our own. They are heavy burdens we were never meant to bear. All we have to do is open the bag and let Christ see what’s there. He will remove them as we honestly, repentantly give them up to Him. The load is immediately lightened and we are able to take for ourselves what we really need to carry with us.
God does not carry a bag, but everything we need is found in Him. He always has something for all of us. A key for every problem can be found in Him. He has a Light for every shadow we encounter. So too, there is abundance of relief for every sorrow we have. Best of all there is a plan for all our tomorrows. In Christ, there is forgiveness, compassion, strength, joy, love, understanding, discernment, authority, decisiveness, and more. What we don’t have available on our own is found in Him.
Oh beloved, God is standing at your bag and He’s waiting for you to show Him, so that He can relieve you of the hurtful, heavy, unbearable stuff you carry. Let Him see it, and let Him take it from you in love, love, love. Now let Him give you everything you need for life and godliness. Anything He takes from you is going to be for your good and His glory! Don’t hesitate to let Him have everything. From the unforgiveness to the self-destructiveness to the things you’ve held onto forever – it’s all got to go. Because He loves you and He has a plan for your life, everything you let go of will be replaced by something that is so so special and needful for your life.
God loves you and He’s for you. The things you need will never be a burden or weigh you down or keep you from walking upright, freely and with purpose! He’s calling you out of your lack into His abundance! He calls you beloved and equipped, restored, redeemed and ready! Go forth with the Light step of Holy Spirit provision as you live pulling out all the bounty we can all have through Christ, so that you don’t just make it but you will thrive and show others the marvelous gifts and blessings the world so desperately needs!
I John 5:3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith.…
Matthew 11:29-30 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
2 Peter 1:3 By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.
Ephesians 1:18-19 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might!
