Mountains are the most brutal environments on earth. We watched a documentary showcasing an elderly woman who lived blind in the Himalayas. She had developed cataracts from the harsh sun. It showed her walking along treacherous mountain paths with just a stick and a bucket as she traveled to gather water for her hut. Finally, the village people heard of a doctor who could make the blind see. The clinic was far away and down the mountains. The blind woman didn’t think she could ever get down the mountains. After all she was blind. But a friend said he would carry her down to the doctor. He literally carried her down the treacherous mountains and into the valley below. It took six days to get there. In mere moments of surgery the woman received her sight again. She returned back to her mountainous home able to enjoy the view and live safer because she could see.
We are all blind. We cannot see. We live in the mountains of sin and hopelessness. We are destined to walk the well-worn paths of humanity without so much as a walking stick to guide us or a bucket of water to sustain us. We are doomed to fall to our deaths at some point because we have never received our sight. There may be help in the valley, but we cannot even get there. We need Someone to get us there, Someone who cares enough to carry us to the Great Physician. Even after we are born again, our sight comes from the Lord. The Spirit given gift of discernment and knowledge are His gift to us. We can no longer trust our human eyes for life is treacherous and hard to navigate. We need the Holy Spirit to see into the spiritual realm.
Oh beloved, there is hope! There is sight coming! You have a Savior who will carry you to the throne room of God. He knows where you live and He knows you are living in a hopeless situation. Even in the midst of hopelessness, God is in the midst of you! Your sight will be restored and your life will be redeemed. Just put your hand in the hand of Jesus and let Him make all things new. You’ve been looking for human help, human sustenance and human assistance. All have disappointed you. All have proved fruitless. You may feel you are not just blind, but dying of thirst. But just beyond your human sight is the Answer to all your prayers. Jesus! He will restore you and He will give you living water, the kind that will sustain you all the days of your life.
God loves you and He’s for you. Run to Him this morning and let Him restore you as only He can. He will do a thorough work on your heart, your mind and your spirit. Any time spent in the Presence of Jehovah changes the outlook and gives you new hope. Rejoice as you walk the high places as though you have hind’s feet, living in freedom with your Savior. Your life is destined to be healed, set free and delivered of any hindrance as you live in the Light of God’s Glory and Grace!
