Live in the Glory Instead of the Doom

As we were headed home last night I noticed what appeared to be the front coming through. On the horizon it was dark from north to south. The closer we got the stranger the sky looked. Until finally we realized it wasn’t a storm front, it was smoke. The sky was filled with it. Before long we weren’t observing the smoke filled horizon, we were driving through smoke! The odor was strong and it was dark. We wondered where the fire was. I was glad we weren’t on the motorcycle, because it would have been hard to handle. Visibility was down as well. It was a little unsettling not to know exactly where the fire was. Eventually we drove past the belt of smoky sky and the stars gleamed in clear heavens.

We knew for sure that there was a fire somewhere, because the evidence was too strong. We also knew that even though we were in the midst of the signs of a fire, we weren’t harmed.

Oh beloved, you may see impending disaster. It might be international, or national or personal problems right where you are. The signs of doom and gloom in your own life are trying to get you to sit down and quit. Even though it might get worse, you are guaranteed that, in Christ, you can walk through these times without fear.  What looks like an oncoming catastrophe for you is just another opportunity for God to show His glory on your behalf. Keep heading towards Him, in the right direction. Don’t stop now. Your life is living proof that God is with you and He will not fail. His hand is on you and His heart is for you. When the smoke of adversity, sorrow and pain clears you will be victorious.

What others are panicking about, you are destined to declare God’s Truth about. The signs of the times may be here, but there are also signs of God’s glory as well. Live in the glory instead of the doom. Live with an eye to the heavens, not the earth. Live with the attitude of the return of the Lord, rather than the destruction of earth. You are born again to another country and your citizenship and your focus are no longer earthly.

God loves you and He’s for you! You can live heaven on earth as you walk in it and then bring God’s truth to the people He places in your path. You can live loved, secure in the knowledge of God and resting in all His promises. People will panic, but you will share your safe haven of blessing as you show forth the praises of the LORD, Who has called you out of the present darkness.  You may indeed walk through the darkness on the horizon, but your calling is to live in the Light!

I Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light! NKJV

I Samuel 2:9 He will protect His faithful ones, but the wicked will disappear in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone.

Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation–so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'”

1 Chronicles 16:23-24 Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples!

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
