Authentic Living

The Benham Brothers had a new home improvement show. These guys were awesome at helping families flip houses. They are also committed followers of Jesus Christ. Because of their stand for Christ they lost their spot on the network. As I watched them on video I realized that these guys have a whole lot more to say than just “This is what happened to us!” They’re not threatening to sue or demanding their rights. No, what they did was so much more profound and lasting. They decided that since they had made the commitment to 6 families to help them flip their houses, they would do just that. No matter that there were no more television endorsement or cameras filming for the world to see, they said, “we had committed to God to run through first base and finish these houses”.

Their encouragement is for everyone. They shared, “Whatever God has given you to do, run all the way through first base. Things may not be working out the way that you wanted.  But when you do what God wants you to do, take what He’s given you and you’re faithful with it God will always reward you in the end.”  If you will be faithful in little things, no matter who is watching, God will be with you.

Oh beloved, you started out well. But things have gotten rough. You were called to fulfill a purpose but you now feel shut down.  You cannot fight a flesh and blood battle to win back your rights. Malice won’t work for the perpetrator or for you. God has called you in love and to love. The only “right” given to any of us is the right to live or die for Jesus. So, this morning, beloved believer, give that calling to Him. You didn’t get it from a person, a church or a job. What is God’s is God’s. Something may have caused you pain and agony and left you without certainty of your calling or your livelihood or maybe even a relationship. But your calling is from the Spirit of God. Relax, forgive quickly and stay very close to God. He will give you the opportunity, the means and the availability to complete that which He has begun in you. Rejoice too that you now know that man can do what man wants, but God is the One who is the Author and Finisher of your faith.

God loves you and is for you. Your calling is secure. God’s plans will not fail no matter what. Just keep being authentic in the little things and keep walking with Jesus. Keep running through first base for Christ. You are becoming a stellar story of God’s faithfulness and abundance as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Luke 16:10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”

Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Acts 20:24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus–the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

2 Peter 1:3 By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
