Let God’s Update Finish

When I got up this morning to go to my computer I found that it was updating. This is not good when you have a limited window of time. That desktop of ours is slow! Not to worry though because I have my trusty tablet to use. As I got it open and attached the keyboard, the message on the screen was….you guessed it “updating”. It became a watch and wait situation to see which would be at my disposal first. I talked to God about it “Lord you KNOW I need something to write your message on. Help! In a world of instant gratification and quick fixes, I was betwixt and between. The tablet won the race and so I found the green light to move on.

When it comes to updating I can see that God uses that mode on us His children as well. We need faith updating. We need to be able to hear Him better and see His hand in our lives. It’s a watch and wait situation at these times. He wants to take time with us. We want to learn quickly and move on. We’re not sure we want to learn as much as we want to move on. We beg and plead with God in the down times. Lord you KNOW we’ve got stuff to do, places to go and people to see. Still He lingers. He wants to make sure the update is fully functional and that we understand that it’s not just down time. He wants us to know that after we’ve been with Him we know we’ve been with Jesus. Just as Moses came down from the mountain with tablets, he came down with a changed countenance as well. God uses even our harsh times, those times we don’t think we can make it, to update our walk with Him. Fresh manna from heaven comes as we wait and listen to His teaching us personally. But if we’re not careful, we’ll free ourselves from the presence and the teaching and move on without Him.

Oh beloved, are you in a waiting period? Do you feel God has set you aside? Maybe you’ve been running so hard and fast that you can’t see what He’s doing. Slow down. You’re faith needs updating and God is so loving and kind that His desire is to impart Truth to you even more than His desire to use you in Kingdom work. In fact, Kingdom work won’t really happen without time alone and impartation from His Holy spirit. God knows it was harsh circumstances that drove you to His presence. But this is working out for your good and His glory. Trust Him now and let Him do His Spiritual work. Give Him freedom to use all the time He needs so that you will come out of His presence in better shape than before.

God loves you and He’s for you. It’s never a waste to spend time with Him. He is your reason for living and since you belong to Him, you can trust Him to do the work that only He can do. Rejoice in the restart of His ministry through you as you live in and speak of the Light of His Glory and Grace!

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead

Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us– yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalm 65:4 How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You to dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple.

Isaiah 48:17 This is what the LORD says–your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.”

Nehemiah 9:20 You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

  1. Amen – boy, am I guilty of rushing, being dictated by the to-do list and forgetting my much needed stillness before God. “It’s never a waste to spend time with Him.” We need that re-fueling, the refilling, the update, don’t we?! Thanks so much for the encouraging reminder to stop and sink into Him.
