Amen Always

Our four year old grandson wanted to bless the meal. As he began he said “thank you for the food”. And then he began to ask God for help to have a good day. He stopped mid prayer looked up at his mom, “Is tomorrow Thursday?”  He wanted to pray for help to decorate at school on Thursday. What a blessing to hear, that even at age 4, he prays for specific things. Of course it always ends in Amen. Even now Caleb is counting on God to help him.

Amen is an affirmation of faith – a declaration of sorts that says God is in control, He knows how to help us and His timing is perfect. Amen is the exclamation point that says “God, if I don’t let you meet my needs, how on earth are they ever going to be met?”  Each amen is a revelation of all God is and all that we are not.  It covers the desires of our hearts, makes a way through the wildernesses of life and is an acknowledgement that the peace of God will reside where the worries and fretting once held court. Regardless what life throws at you or what you go through, God is in charge, He is able and He is going to answer in His time in His way – the best way ever.

Are you willing to put an amen to your prayers this morning? Are you willing to say God, You alone are in control. God I trust that you know how to help me and that Your timing is perfect?  Do you trust that prayer will release the power to do the impossible, to acknowledge that you can never do anything for God on your own?

Oh beloved, don’t quit praying now. The heat may be on, but prayers are a cool breeze in the desert of life. The storms of life may be raging, but God is your shelter. He is your way maker. It may appear that God is uncaring or aloof. Things might not have turned out the way you wanted. You may be reeling from disaster, fear or discouragement right now. But God hears you. When you don’t see the answer, the enemy will try to convince you that God has left you to your own devices. Don’t fall for that trick. Only God can meet your needs in a way that will turn out for your good and His glory. The fulfillment of your destiny is dependent upon your times of prayer.

God loves you and He’s for you. Keep praying. Keep talking to God about everything.  Keep shouting, whispering and praying Amen! As you express your faith to God and bend the knee in agreement with Him, the heavenly realm will come alive on your behalf.  Rejoice always, pray without ceasing and don’t forget to give God the glory when the answer arrives, right from God’s heart to yours.

Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. NIV

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
