Persistence Pays Off

Persistence: firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

We love watching wildlife videos. One of the most recent was of wildlife experts attempting to keep bears from snatching hunter’s kills in the wild. They set up a game camera and used a roadkill deer carcass. They electrified it and waited. Sure enough a bear came along. As the bear touched the carcass with his huge paw he was shocked and ran off. The wildlife officers thought they had surely found the cure for stolen meat. But no, the bear came back, twice! The persistence of the bear paid off and he eventually tore up the equipment which removed the electrical charge. Although the bear was by now fearful to touch the deer, he gingerly tried one more time and found success. Off he went into the woods with his prize.

Oh beloved, God wants you to know that persistence will pay off. The enemy himself knows this. He will try and try again and again to get you to quit believing God. He will convince you that you cannot have the promises of God. But as a believer, you must know this as well. No matter what the enemy throws at you or what life hits you with, keep seeking God’s face. Keep praying for God’s will in your life. Keep knocking for doors of opportunity and deliverance to open. Keep seeking God’s face through fellowship with Him. Even if you feel that you cannot hope to approach Him because of things you’ve done. You must be persistent in your life of faith.

God knows what’s happening in your life. He knows where you’ve messed up. He knows your hopes, your dreams and your desires. The enemy cannot keep you from God’s promises for you. Even when it looks hopeless, keep going for the prize. Even when you know you can’t seem to touch the hem of Christ’s garment, it’s there for you. Don’t worry when others turn away, walk away or reject you. Persistence with God increases your faith and gives you hope when even the world will say it’s hopeless. Small failures along the way do not defeat God’s plans for you.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s your key to turn on the praise and keep on praying! God’s plans for you will come to pass. It’s His timing combined with your persistent belief in His Word that makes all things come together. Don’t let the contraptions of fear, unbelief or disappointment keep you from taking hold of all God is and all God has. Your life is a perfect example of persistent faith that will show forth the praises of God as you live in the light of His glory and grace!

Matthew 7:7-8 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

I John 5:14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Hebrews 10:35-36 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Psalm 116:2 Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
