I visited for just a moment with a school friend of one of our daughters. She battled a serious illness a while back. I told her that I got to know her mother much better as the story unfolded through the months of her illness. She said that she knew her mother was changed, “we all are”. She went on to tell me that she would go through it all again to achieve the faith she now has. “It was worth it.” Their focus turned to the Lord through it all.
Oh beloved, what you are going through now is rough. I know. But God promises that it will all be worth it. What He’s doing in your heart and mind cannot be seen with the naked eye. It is not often noticed through the ordeal. You have just hung on to God for all it’s worth. But when the trial is over, you will look back and see who you were and who you are now. That’s when you will know that God has not only gotten you through the troubles, He has changed you. Time spent in the hard spots of life is never wasted. Magnificently, God weaves all things in our lives until they become a blessing and we look more like Christ. Only God knows how to bring good out of every sorrow, hardship, rejection or failure. He redeems the things we endure at another’s hand. He even redeems the messes we make for ourselves. As gold is purified in the refiner’s fire, so too our faith is refined in all things.
God loves you and He is for you. Surely as the sun rises, your day will become more beautiful because Christ is right with you in the midst of all this. Heaven is applauding your every move forward in faith. The enemy wants you to think God missed it on this one. The enemy wants to convince you that God either won’t or can’t. But God is Sovereign and ever present. He always knows what He is doing and what is best for you. Focus on the Lord instead of the trial. Rejoice in the Truth that God’s tender loving care will carry you all the days of your life.
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing. KJV
Isaiah 62:5 As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over His bride, so will your God rejoice over you.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Isaiah 43:1-2 But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
I Peter 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
