Roller Coaster Weather and Emotions

This weather is something else. Up and down temperatures keep us hopping. There’s even a forecast for a chance of snow tomorrow night. The extended forecast shows a return to nearly 60 degree weather five days out. We never know what the weather will do this time of year. It’s kind of tiring. Enjoying the nice weather and then enduring the frigid temps the next day is hard on body and spirit.

Our emotions can go up and down as well. We hear good news and we’re walking on sunshine. Next day we hear something not so great and we’re down in the dumps. If we keep living by our emotions we’ll always be shook up. Life changes quickly. Troubles come and go with the wind. If we live by our emotions we’ll always be torn up and worn out.

Oh beloved, you are so blessed. As a believer you don’t have to live by your emotions. You are destined for more than that. Emotions keep you on a roller coaster. As long as things are going well, you can be happy. But as soon as things turn wrong or the chill of disappointment comes you are sure to plummet from the heights to the depths. Emotions are as fickle as the weather. They can’t be trusted. But God can be trusted to stabilize you, equalize you and keep you on the level path of His will.  He already knows what you’ve been through and what is coming down the road. He’s got it all covered, including you. His promises are especially true when things are chaotic. Even when it looks like He won’t come through or He can’t possibly make it all right, He is on the throne. His promises are that no matter what’s happening He is there with you, He is working things out and He will carry you through safely. Don’t keep reciting the troubles. Instead recite God’s Word and take it in as your TRUTH. Emotions cannot be trusted, but God can!

God loves you and He’s for you. You don’t have to stay on the roller coaster anymore. You can live life in faith and have real joy no matter what. The bad reports of today will fade away as God’s report comes through for you. Even when things fall apart, God will hold you together so you don’t have to fall apart in the midst of it all. His hand is on you for a destiny to shine forth His trustworthiness and blessings all the day of your life.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no Savior.

Hebrews 13:14 For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Psalm 112:7 They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
