Sunday – How Do You Spell “Winner”?

Spelling has always been something I was good at. I play scrabble with one of my daughters and I usually win. She found another spelling game to play and she is winning every game. It’s not the spelling that counts in this game, big words or little will do. It’s the speed you can make words at that makes all the difference. While I can spell big words with accuracy, she’s faster with her fingers than I am. We laugh as she says she’s finally found a game she can win.
Each one of us is good at one thing or another. We love to excel and really, everyone wants to win. From playing cards with grandkids to spelling with speed, someone has to be a winner. And that means that someone has to be a loser. We can get frustrated if we don’t win at least once in a while. Sometimes we may have so many times we lose at things, we begin to think “loser” about ourselves.

Oh beloved, don’t despair! While games have winners and losers, the life of a believer is no game. And because of Christ, everyone is declared by the Lord to be a winner. No need for competition, desperate measures or consternation. Don’t let anxiety over any area of your life become a source of disappointment and unbelief. God knows you and He has given you everything you need to be confirmed a winner. Yes, you may have times when you see nothing but loss. Don’t look at the moments of loss as a reason to call yourself loser. God may be removing something from you in order to bless you with His best. Triumph always comes along beside you because your life is covered in the Blood of the Lamb. No special skill of the flesh is needed because God is your source of all success. Your gifts and calling are unique to you and no one else can do what you are called to do. Every gift, every calling, every blessing is given from God and He declares in the Spirit that you are a winner.

God loves you and He’s for you. Stop counting your losses and recite the Lord’s victory on your behalf. All of your life is surrounded by great and mighty abilities that only God can provide. His love covers all your mistakes and failures. His Spirit hovers over your life so that even when it looks bad, God has you walk through those moments and into overwhelming victory. Rejoice and keep your eyes on the prize, for you are in a win win situation no matter what, as you live in the Light of God’s glory and grace.

Romans 8:37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Psalm 118:15 Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things!

I Corinthians 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 21:31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.

1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
