We’re Defective but in Christ We Are Perfected!

One of our friends lost their beloved pet a couple of months back. They’ve been mourning. They weren’t sure if they ever wanted another dog. On Friday I talked to a friend who raises the same breed. I asked her if she ever gets a mixed breed puppy and told her about their ordeal. Knowing a purebred was expensive, I was hoping she might know. At the last moment of our conversation she said that she did have a little puppy that was deaf. She couldn’t sell her, but she had been looking for it a good home. This little darling doggy who would normally be worth hundreds of dollars, was worthless because of a slight defect. Her destiny was unsure. Knowing that our friends would spoil her rotten I got on the phone and told them about the little puppy. Immediately they wanted her.

We’re all like that little puppy. We’re defective. We’re unable to get to a forever home because of our defects. But there is One Who came on the scene to live and die for our defects. And the same God who sent us a Savior has taken us in, defects and all. He sees us as we are but knows we are redeemable. He loves us, He cares for us and He never says we’re not good enough, because of Jesus.

You’ve been dealing with your defects haven’t you? As much as you try to make things right, do things right and be good enough, you know in your heart of hearts nothing you do in the flesh merits you becoming perfected. And yet, you desire to be better. Others have spoken defective words over you. “Done with you”, “No place for you”, “Too old, too late, too young…” Someone you loved, someone you prayed for has even said no. You feel homeless, useless and done in. Your weaknesses are seen as a real barrier between you and God. Imperfections speak loudly and they want to drown out any thought of God’s love, mercy and grace.

Oh beloved, you are precious in God’s sight! Even though He sees your defects, He has chosen to cover them with His Blood. His Agape love sought you when you were a misfit and a stray. His burden to make you fit for the Kingdom sent Him from heaven to the manger and on to the grave. He walked into hell for you! He says I find no fault in you! God has redeemed you and Christ has set you free from the curse of the things you are lacking. No more wandering from pillar to post hoping to fit in. No more worrying that once again someone will decide not to love you, care about you or keep you in their heart. You are in God’s heart forever!

God loves you and He’s for you. He sees you perfected in Christ and useful for the Kingdom. Snuggle into the arms of your Heavenly Father and learn more and more about His love. For that Agape love is where you will find the perfection you are searching for. Don’t settle for trying to make yourself worthy. Lean completely on the Lord, for He is your answer to any imperfection of your past, your present and your future. Rejoice as you live whole, delivered, set free and joyful lives in the light of His mercy and grace!

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

I Corinthians 1:30 It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption NIV

Psalm 116:1 I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy

Romans 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

I Corinthians 6:11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
