Don’t Run Out of Filters!

Rarely have we run out of coffee filters. Now Danny and I really like our coffee, so the loss of a filter won’t keep us from having coffee. We will find a way to make coffee. We even have an old campfire coffee pot that boils the coffee inside with water. We don’t use it though because the grounds remain in the coffee no matter how slow you pour it and try to keep the grounds at the bottom of the pot. Without a proper filter you have a mess.

We sometimes let the grounds of untruth through don’t we? We need a filter that will work and we need to remember to use it. In our forgetfulness we might find ourselves gulping down grounds of fear, worry, and unbelief. The bitter dregs of the enemy can make us want to find solace anywhere we can. But only in applying the Word of God as our filter do we find real and lasting peace, faith, hope, mercy and answers to our every prayer. It is in using the filter of God’s Word in every situation that we find joy unspeakable and full of glory as well as being able to see clearly God’s love and plan for our own life and the life of those we pray for. Satan might bring to mind generational curses, but as we filter that through God’s Truth we see that Jesus became the curse for us so that not only we but our children and our children’s children are redeemed from every curse and chain that could have bound them.

As believers, we all need a filter for our lives – especially our thought life. It’s just a fact that the enemy will try to talk us out of our blessings, out of our hopes and out of God’s truth. He speaks very subtly so if we don’t have the right filter, we will be fooled into believing his lies. And all he speaks is lies. The Word tells us he is the father (the originator, initiator and author) of all lies. He will fill our hearts with the acrid grounds of fear, bewilderment, rejection, despair and desperation. As long as we leave the filter out, we are bound to believe the lies he speaks into our hearts.

Oh beloved, you have the greatest filter of all – the WORD OF GOD! Apply it liberally to all you drink in. It is reusable and ever available. Unlike paper filters that get worn and tattered and must be thrown away, the more you use God’s filter the better it gets! Not a ground of the enemy’s lies can get through. Not a smidgen of untruth will fill your heart if you use the Word of God. If what you hear doesn’t start with words of affirmation and love it’s not from God! Use the filter for your own life. Use it on the prayers you pray for your loved ones. Use it when you’re too tired to believe and watch as your unbelief has to flee! Apply God’s Word to everyday life – with its ups and downs, its curves and hills and see how God lines you up with Himself! No weapon formed against you will prosper, no foe can defeat you, no mess can destroy you, no regrets can paralyze you when God is for you! The same filter holds true for everything and everyone in your life. God cares about YOU! God loves YOU! God will make a way for YOU! God’s Word is His bond and He has made rich and lavish promises for His children and that includes YOU! If you hear ANYTHING that contradicts the Word of God then throw it out! Filter it again through His Word and find His truth will be the only thing left – pure and clear and lovely.

God loves you and He’s for you. Thank Him for His magnificent Word. Bless Him for His abundant provision. Honor Him for the generational blessings you can pray over yourself and your family. There’s not a thing left out of God’s filter for you. He is no respecter of persons and that means that you are as blessed as the most blessed believer on earth! That means the prayers you pray in faith for your loved ones, your circumstances, your marriage, your job, your home, your dreams and more will line up with the graceful Words of the King. Rise up and filter everything through God’s fingers of love as you live in the light of His glory and grace!

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
