Keep On Running

I passed a group of runners yesterday afternoon. It was cold but they were out getting their mileage in. They had caps and jackets and gloves on. Two of them had bandanas across their face. They had the extra equipment needed for the weather and they weren’t letting that cold stop them. I admired their grit and determination. It’s easy to run in good weather, but even on warmer days they have to be in shape to run. The physical preparation is important, but so is the mental prep. It wouldn’t matter if they were physically prepared if their minds told them it was too cold and windy, they’d have a hard time keeping the pace and making their goal. They were in a group, but each individual had to make up their own mind to stay the course.

Thinking about dropping out of the course? You ran in the past, but things have gotten rough. The weather has turned sour and you just want to quit. Life is hard right now and nobody would blame you if you stayed home. You thought you were prepared for anything, but the weather seems to taunt you and bully you. You’ve stumbled in the wake of rejection, disappointment, depression and other potholes of life. You thought you had it all figured out but things aren’t going so well. The enemy of your soul bids you to just quit. You’ve endured enough. You’ve tried hard. You’ve looked at the reports. Just give up.

Oh beloved, it’s time to look at the scene again. You’re not running alone! There is One Who is with you who will give you the inner strength to keep going when the whole world says quit. He’s going in front of you to knock the impossible situations out of your way. He’s behind you to protect you from the hidden attacks of the enemy. And He’s right beside you, cheering you, reminding you and blessing you with the inner strength to stay the course and achieve the goal. His courage is your strength to keep going. Better days will return and there will be easier pathways, but in the meantime you can keep the course, achieve His goals for you and receive the reward of perseverance. God will see you through.

God loves you and He’s for you. You don’t have to face the race alone. Seek God’s face, trust Him to get you where you need to go and keep running the race. Fears are there. Troubles may come your way. But with Christ’s love and care you will make it. It’s worth it beloved. Don’t let another outward circumstance keep you from the inward strength to keep the pace with the Lord. Even if nobody runs with you the finish line is attainable. Put your hand in His and keep going. The reward is worth the effort as you run in the Light of His glory and grace.

Proverbs 4:11-12 I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; And if you run, you will not stumble.

2 Samuel 22:36-37 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your help makes me great. You enlarge my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped.

Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.

Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Amplified

Colossians 1:11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy!

Jude 1:24-25 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
