75 Days Until Spring!

First Spring Flowers Wallpaper

I saw a sign that read “75 Days Until Spring!”  That sounds very far away right now.  With this week promising to be mostly sunny in Arkansas, it also carried temperatures down into the teens at night and barely above freezing during the day. Bone chilling would be the word for it. Winter has its grip firmly on our state and it isn’t going to let go anytime soon – as the sign says for 75 days at least. At least with a handy sign like that we are reminded that spring is coming and winter is not staying forever.

Oh beloved, the chill of life may have a grip on you. You tried to get the fires of love, fidelity and commitment burning, but it keeps fading. While you may have been willing to work harder, do more, knuckle down or acquiesce with just about everything, you still find yourself out in the cold. You hurt from the blast of winter that assaults your heart and mind.  Winter means afternoon shadows and early darkness. You’re tired of feeling the way you do, but you’re stuck in the winter of life. You can’t will yourself to feel warmer, you can’t talk yourself into feeling the spring sunshine and you can’t go back and fix a thing to make winter go away.  You want to know why winter has arrived, but you can’t see any good reason. The fact is, seasons come and go, including winter. Without winter the spring’s beauty wouldn’t hold near the joy that is coming your way. You can know for surely that the seasons will change because just around the globe, winter is over in many places and summer has already arrived. It’s traveling at what seems to you like an interminable time, but spring precious one will be right on time. God is always right on time as well. He can turn the winter blues into springlike praises as you put your eyes on Him always.

God loves you and He’s for you. This is your message for the winter doldrums. This is your song in the darkness. This is your warmth when the chill sets in. You are loved! This means that no one and not one thing can ruin your chances for spring to arrive. He’s for you! This means He will be with you not only on the good, sunny, warm days that are on their way, but right now when it’s dreary and you find no reason to keep going. These two facts will do more than help you endure life until it gets better. They will warm your heart, clear your mind and give you songs in the night.  Rejoice and give thanks right now and know beloved, that spring is indeed coming and things will lighten up, warm up and your days will bloom with all that God has for you no matter what season of the year it is. The seasons come and go but God will be with you all the way.

Psalm 74:16-17 Yours is the day, yours also the night; You have established the heavenly lights and the sun. You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

Psalm 42:8 But each day the LORD pours His unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.

I Peter 1:6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure various trials for a little while.

Philippians 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 104:34 May all my thoughts be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
