Everywhere you go this time of year, Christmas carols and songs are being broadcast through the speakers in almost every store. The bright decorations and lights are shining all over. Yet I can’t help but notice that Christmas is not so wonderful for everyone. When the season should bring smiles to all faces, it seems to bring much distress to many hearts. So many people struggle during the holidays. Any one of us might find ourselves face to face with our disappointments and frustrations. If we’re not careful we can begin to believe that God is disappointed and frustrated with us. And while we’re hurting and just trying to tolerate the season, we may begin to believe that God is simply tolerating us. That He’s putting up with us but at any moment the axe will come down and our hope will be crushed forever.
Oh beloved, it’s time to face the facts with CHRIST! The fact is, before the foundation of the world God’s plan for love and redemption had your name written all over it! His plan said you will be MINE and you will be HOLY and without fault. Even in the most difficult days of your life, God is on your side! Even in the hardest moments of the season, God is with you! Even when the holidays go all wrong and the doctor’s report is grim or the loved ones turn their back or the friend walks away, God is with you BECAUSE He loves you! Even when you don’t think you can work another moment to be right, get right, have it all right, God is making things right for you! God has not abandoned you even when you feel abandoned. He has not left you alone, even when you feel lonely. Not now, not ever. In our most ungraceful moments, whether put on us, or by our own hands, His GRACE is still there providing kindness, mercy, favor, clemency and blessings.
God loves you and He’s for you. CHRISTmas is proof of His willingness to abandon His own perfect position to be born for us, to suffer for us and to die for us. Most of all He was willing to be raised to NEW LIFE for you and for me! How amazing is this? Aren’t we thankful? Don’t we love Him? Doesn’t all this wonderful love and grace make you want to sing from the housetops “O Come Let Us Adore Him!” This is your inheritance not just at Christmas but always and forever, all the way to heaven!
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. KJV
1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Psalm 116:1 I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy.
Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved.
