God Will Never Discard you as Unusable

For a live Christmas tree to be useful for a home, it has to go through some trauma. Lots of trimming goes on all during the growing years. Heavy machinery not little snips and tucks here and there. No gentle nudging. Rather, huge swipes of sharpened blades. When that tree is picked to grace a home, there is a final chop to the very base and in essence the tree dies. It gets the loose needles shaken from its boughs and tied up to be used a short time and discarded.

We are a lot like those trees. We go through all sorts of trauma in our faith growing years. Each nip and swipe of hurts, rejections, abandonment, misunderstandings, faithlessness, discouragement is felt with our whole hearts. But there is a Manager, who owns us all. And He knows what He’s doing. He’s fitting us for His home. He’s shaking everything that can be shaken in us. We are preparing to die to self and live for Christ alone. We are hand-picked for eternal glory by the King of the Universe Himself.

Oh beloved, it seems so hard at the time, but God is with you. He knows what He is doing. Anything that won’t do for a believer, He wants to remove from you. He’s not trying to ruin you. He’s merely trying to keep you just for Himself. Unlike a Christmas tree that goes through stuff just to be thrown away in the end, you are being set on High with the Master Himself! Your life is not wasting away. It’s thriving! Your days are not limited for usefulness. Rather your entire life is a highlight of God’s favor and love. Don’t try to cling to things He is removing. Don’t hold onto things that are useless or hurtful.  Let it all go. One day you will look in the mirror and see a reflection of the Savior. He will fix the wrongs, right the crooked, discard the mistakes and make all things new.

God loves you and He’s for you. The very hairs on your head are numbered. Your days were ordained before you were even born. Rejoice in the life of faith and who you are in Christ. He can be trusted to make you what you could never be on your own!

Isaiah 49:1 Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb He has spoken my name. NIV

2 Corinthians 4:8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.

Hebrews 12:11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

I Peter 5:10 In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
