Of all things to run out of on Thanksgiving Day I had to venture out for dishwasher detergent. My niece and I made a late afternoon run to town. Thinking the local discount store would be the quick trip, we headed there first. I noticed after we turned in that there were lots of people walking towards the store. But when I made the turn onto the huge parking lot I remembered. The entire parking lot was covered with cars and droves of people were walking towards the entrances – Black Friday! We barely made it through the parking lot and out the other exit.
The people who were planning their shopping spree last night were determined. They had their sale papers and their shopping lists in hand. Most of them had a friend along as well. Nothing would stop them from gaining that one gift priced just right for the trip. You could say they were driven.
Are you after a prize you cannot seem to find? Have you been fighting the crowds of unbelief searching for just the right answers to your needs? Maybe you’ve spent a lot of time and money trying to fill the emptiness that you can’t escape. You’ve gone the extra mile and spent money on things that just don’t satisfy. Now you wonder if it was worth it. You’re left holding the receipt to things you never bargained for. The price was too steep and your heart is no longer in it. All the hoopla made you believe you had to get to the pinnacle and reach for it all. But now you’re alone, worn out and fearful. People have disappointed you, life has left you hanging and plans you had turned out unattainable.
Oh beloved, there is One who will help you find the way through the maze of human expectations. He will filter through the junk and lead you towards the very things that your heart so longs for. He will give you what money cannot buy – peace of mind and heart. Your thirst will finally be slaked and your hunger will be abated. The things you’ve lost in the hustle and bustle will no longer matter. For you will be living in the Presence of the Only One who can give the abundant life to you. Let things go. You don’t have to go through the motions or fight the crowds of human though anymore. You have access to the only Book that matters – the Word of God. Through the pages of that sacred missive you will find the best way to live, the answer to life’s problems, your reason for living, the pathway to joy and the Savior of the world who loves you and has given His life just for you. He will create a clean heart in you, readjust your thinking, give you more than you could even ask for and set you securely on high with Him. It doesn’t matter what others say or do, He has the answer – all the answers. His blessings come without cost to you for He paid the ultimate price on your behalf.
God loves you and He’s for you. On that first Black Friday God secured the way for you to have all you will ever need. But He didn’t stop there. He gave you Sunday morning resurrection, so that you can live in resurrection wisdom, power and love all the days of your life!
