Lock the Door to Your Heart

lock

Honestly we never used to lock our house. Good friends who were retired lived right across the street. We just weren’t worried about it. We also knew our kids would come by during the day and go in. That didn’t bother us either. They weren’t strangers and they weren’t stealing. The neighbors are now long gone. We lock up these days. We still trust the neighborhood but not like when sentinels could view our front door. We don’t want to just invite a thief to come in to our house and freely take what belongs to us.

The enemy of our soul is a thief. He wants to come in and steal everything that is ours. His plan is to distract us with troubles so we forget to lock our minds up with the Word of God. He will take our peace and joy in a heartbeat. He’s not an ordinary thief. He wants to kill, steal and destroy. He aims for the finest of our beliefs. He wants to take our confidence, every ounce of it. He wants to leave behind other things – fear, worry, unforgiveness, poverty, weakness and more.

Oh beloved, this morning it’s time to check the locks on your heart. Are you prayed up – have you spent time with the One Who guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus? Are you full of the holding power of God’s Word? Do you believe God? He’s no neighbor who watches from afar. He’s so close your breath can’t get out of your mouth that He doesn’t feel it. Don’t let the enemy steal from you another day. Lock up and check the door of your heart. Don’t allow another thought that doesn’t line up with God’s Word to make themselves at home in your heart. You may have struggled with feelings of unworthiness, fears for tomorrow, thoughts of hatred toward yourself and other wrong thoughts for a long, long time. But today is your day to start over. No more stealing of your prized possessions in Christ. Your heart and mind belong to Christ as well, so He will help you say no to the thief and yes to Himself!

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s a double lock – bolted tight – against the thieving lying no good enemy. He can’t come in and make off with the truth anymore. The more diligently you work at locking up, the harder it will get for the enemy to lie to you. You’re never locked out of God’s loving care and precious guardianship. Rejoice in the Word, check that lock and go forth triumphantly knowing who you are in Christ and what God thinks about you.

2 Corinthians 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

I Peter 1:5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
