Running Interference is Christ’s Blessing for You!

My dad loved football. I’m sure I’ve talked about that before. I’m not sure if I’ve ever met anyone who loved football more than my dad did. He hollered and beat the arm of the chair with each play of the game. If the other team ran interference he was incredulous. If His own team did the same he was delighted. All the game maneuvers and plans seemed like foolishness to me.  I can still hear him saying of certain plays, “Now that’s a game changer.”

Zacchaeus was fine being the hated chief tax collector at Jericho. Somebody had to do it. The woman at the well was used to getting water in the hot noonday sun. Nobody else was there. Saul was a highly privileged Pharisee, dedicated to the persecution of the early disciples of Jesus. It was his positional birthright and he exceled at it. Hated, rejected, feared. That was their lot.  Until Christ came on the scene. The Holy Spirit ran interference – He blocked their natural life to bring them to supernatural life in Christ. They were changed and they became changers in their world.

Oh beloved, has God been interfering in your life? Is He messing with the status quo and changing things up for you? Don’t regret the changes. Don’t fight the difference. You are different! You were called to be saved through the Cross, but you were also born again to change. In the game of life, the Cross parades across the 50 yard line and it interferes with everything. God wanted to change you from lost to redeemed. But He also wants to interfere with your personality, your position, your passions and your plans. Christ in you is the hope of glory, but He’s also the hope for change today! Just as Zaccheus, the woman at the well and Paul were not ever the same, neither are you. God knows your weaknesses, your troubles and your pains. He wants to change it all.  He wants to give you godly plays for living as He changes you from glory to glory.

God loves you and He’s for you.  The game of life for a believer is the Cross. It’s foolishness to those who are perishing. But for you, beloved, it is the Very Power of God for you! The change may seem strange at first, but your citizenship is now changed, so go with the Holy Spirit. He has plans for you that are beyond your wildest dreams and expectations. You are different and your calling is different. Reach for His hand and let Him walk you out of the natural and into the supernatural with Christ!

I Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I Corinthians 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

II Corinthians 3:17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

II Corinthians 3:18  And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
