Peace Is Yours For the Resting

Our central heat was on the fritz. I read up on it online and it sounded expensive. We discussed our options and we prayed. I’ll be honest. Things like this have been known to make me well, nervous, let’s say. I was amazed that I didn’t go to sleep wringing my hands over the possible expense. I don’t mind spending the money, but I was thinking that I was going to get a heat and air system for my anniversary or for Christmas or combined! LOL.

The next morning I was still amazed that I was not worried about it. The heat and air guy came look at it. It turned out to be a simple sensor (what Danny had said it was) and it cost us very little. That was when I realized that I could have fretted and pinched pennies and got frustrated over nothing. Instead I trusted God, realizing that whatever was wrong God had it covered. My husband was blessed by my calmness, since he’s never worried about “stuff”. He’s just a guy who trusts God about everything. And He has a wife who has a new revelation of that peace giving trust.

Oh beloved, you may not have your central heating system going out, but there are things aren’t there? You’re worried to distraction. You’ve cried and fumed and wrangled. Has any of that helped? You’ve tried to make things happen in the natural but things are not changing. God wants you to know that He loves you. Because He loves you He has blessed answers for your every need. He just asks you to trust Him. Whether it’s a little thing or a big thing, He has your life covered. He knows your needs and He doesn’t leave you hanging. Trust God. It’s not something you can do in the flesh. He’s calling you to come to Him with all your needs, your anxieties, your finances and your problems. Prayer is not your answer – God is. He’s no absent deity in the heavens. He’s your Abba Father, your Savior, your Friend. No one is like Him. Whether your bank account is dry or running over. Whether your friends are with you or long gone. Whether you’re married or single. God is with you. He does not change because your life is changing. No He is greater than the physical, temporal life. Yet, because of His great love for you He has promised to be with you, to watch over you, guide you and protect you all the days of your life.

God loves you and He’s for you. He is your God of Peace. Roll those cares, those unexpected messes, over on Him. You’ll be amazed at the joy you will feel for trusting Him and the peace that comes over you will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. And you will be able to share with others that God is trustworthy, faithful and true!

Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Isaiah 32:17-18 The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest. NIV

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] Amplified

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
