Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood included a postman who always came through saying, “Speedy delivery!” To tell you the truth I can’t see that he was so speedy. The postman at our office is a new worker for our area. He’s doing a good job as far as I can tell. He did deliver a letter that wasn’t for us, so I put it back in the mailbox. Twice. Finally I just took it with me to the post office. It had an address that was very similar to ours, but it wasn’t the same street. I’m hoping it got to the right person by now.
The enemy of our soul will keep delivering mail to our life. He won’t take our unwillingness to receive it lightly. He will keep trying to get us to take possession of things that aren’t ours. God wants us to have no junk mail in our minds. He’s made a way for us to say no to junk and yes to the good stuff. But we have to say no. We want deliverance from things that get in the way of our walk with the Lord. Unforgiveness, disillusionment, discouragement, are among the things that satan wants delivered to our doorstep and for us to take possession of them. And keep them. But God is checking our mail and He speaks to our hearts in such love: “I can take that for you. Wrong address, this doesn’t belong to a child of mine. This belongs in the junk files.”
Oh beloved, are you dealing with a delivery that is keeping your heart torn up? You want to move on, but the mail keeps piling up. You have bills to pay: you’re holding onto grudges, making excuses and feeling awful inside. It’s time to return those thoughts that come packaged as reality and never take delivery of them again. God has a plan for your life. Part of that plan is to receive everything you need from the LORD and refuse everything that’s not of God. You’ll have to check your Book of Truth to know what is acceptable and what is not. Don’t trust the enemy to speak any truth to you or deliver anything good. He may tell you that you have a right to be resentful, angry and unforgiving, but that delivery will give you more trouble than you want. He may say the situation is hopeless, impossible or wrong, but God says I AM able to make all grace abound to you. God says let Me deliver you FROM those burdens and deliver good things TO your heart and mind.
God loves you and He’s for you. You can trust His council on anything that you receive. He will give you the strength and wisdom to say no to wrong deliveries and yes to the Word of God. He will even help you trash what you don’t need in your heart and mind and renew your subscription to the Truth and deliver it with love, joy and peace every single time.
