The Aroma of the Word of God is So Sweet!

Blake told me he had read the whole chapter of John 3:16! (He actually read several pages of John chapters 3 and probably 4.) I got tickled but I thought yes, it is the whole chapter. John 3:16 is wonderful but verse 17 hardly gets noticed yet it is integrally a part of verse 16. In fact the entire chapter is awesome. Every word of God holds true and is needful in our lives. Every time we read the Bible to our children, with our children, and over our children the benefits just ring up. They ring up for them and for us as well. Reading the Word aloud makes a strong statement to God – we love His Word. And it makes a strong statement to the enemy – that God’s Word is in us to protect us from His lies.

I am reminded of the many times our children were taught the Word when they were young. Although, like me and my own life, there were times you couldn’t exactly SEE the Word in their lives, they remember it and it is in them. Our lives, lived out for Jesus, are a sweet smelling savor to God. But that same life, lived out before Jesus in front of our children and our children’s children is a sweet smelling savor to them as well.

Oh beloved, every time you open the Word of God the Holy Spirit Himself is released into your life! The aroma of the Word encircles your heart and mind. It also wafts out into the hearts and minds of your children and your spouse and your family! This Book is no ordinary sonnet or missive. It is breathed out by God Himself. He spoke the worlds into existence and He inhabits the Word because He IS the WORD. The greatest gift you can give yourself and your family is the Word of God. Don’t get discouraged when you don’t see the evidence in the natural. God’s Word is reproducing TRUTH in the inner man of all – you, your family and those you reach out to with it. This is a relationship you are nurturing and learning from – your relationship with God, who has given His Word to you. It is a sword in the Spirit and a shield to your body, mind and soul. God’s Word guards you as you seek His face. The enemy will do everything he can to distract you with stuff. But when you spend time with God and in His Word magnificent things are happening and your needs will all be met as well.

God loves you and He’s for you. Keep reading, praying, teaching and declaring His Word. You are a shining example of a warrior of God as you live for Him in the Light of His Word.

John 1:1 & 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. NIV

Romans 15:4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

Psalm 119:89 Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.

Ephesians 6:16-17 In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
