While camping this past weekend we were parked at the lake with many other campers. Each camper had their own unique camping equipment. There was the biker with a small tent carried on his back seat, the family with the silver bullet camper, a few pop ups, all the way to huge motor homes with multiple pullouts. Although multiple styles and prices of campers were represented in the camping area where we stayed, the camping was the same. Each needed power and water and each needed a level place to park. Regardless of style, brand or price point, none of them were useful without the basic necessities. Money wasn’t even the guiding factor in who had fun or who enjoyed the scenery the most. The folks who ate steaks weren’t any happier than the ones who had hot dogs. The single camper wasn’t better off than the crowd of family and friends at the other spots. Wild animals were present as well. Nobody could keep the coyotes from howling through or the raccoons and the stray cat from ransacking the campsites. In many ways we were all in the same boat.
Oh beloved, with Christ you are rich indeed! You may be going through a hard spot, but you don’t have to camp there! You may find yourself without electricity but with adjustments you will find the spark again. If the water is not flowing in your life, seek the Lord and reconnect with the Spirit Who promises to keep the flow going always. You don’t have to buy a spot in the Kingdom nor have enough stuff to impress anyone else. Your joy is not dependent upon things. As a believer you have the wonderful blessings that money cannot buy: peace, love, joy, contentment, and the Presence of God, which is the richest most wonderful blessing God gives. Regardless if you are under cloudy skies or fierce winds of adversity or the howling dogs of hardship are running through camp, you are safe and at peace in any condition. Your camp will hold because you hold the Lord’s hand and He holds you securely in His Palm. It’s time to stop fretting over the setup your camp is in and start rejoicing that everything you need is given to you by God Himself. Your days of sorrow won’t last forever, your heartbreaks, rejections, or disappointments will leave as you recount the Savior’s love and rehearse the Lord’s Words over yourself, your camp, your family and your life.
God loves you and He’s for you. You don’t have to camp alone or make your life worth something by purchasing things you don’t need to impress people who don’t care. You just have to live for Jesus because it’s truly all about your relationship with Him and all about His relationship with you. Rest in His promises and watch as the Holy Spirit redeems, renews and remodels your life for the glory of the Lord.
