Funny how some addresses never leave your mind. I remember the first home address we had when I was a child in Houston and the first address Danny and I had as newlyweds. As we traveled home from Texas we stopped through Denton. I remembered my father’s oldest sister’s home address. As we drove there I could remember every turn. Sure enough the house was still there. It looked much smaller than I remembered. The joy I had at that home, visiting with my beloved aunt and uncle, was no longer available to me because they were long gone.
How often we want to return to the past. We try to relive it, retrieve it and remain there. But God is not in the past. Precious memories though there may be, there is a future that is welcoming you with open arms. No matter your age, your position, your income or your past, God has a rich future for you. You cannot live in the abandoned home of memories. It’s just a shell now. It won’t comfort you, keep you warm or keep you safe. Run quickly into God’s open arms and let Him show you WITH JOY what is waiting for you. No doors locked that He wants open. No windows barred that He will take you through. No pulled shades nor shackled gates. All is open in your future. All is fresh and new and awaiting your entrance.
Oh beloved, walk into the morning mist of today! Enjoy every single inch of it. Remember all the wonderful things God has done for you and the people He has given you to love you all of your life. But look to today! God is here today. He wants you to express what He is doing today! He wants you to worship Him today, love Him today, live for Him today and covenant with Him this very day! Everything you need is yours by virtue of this Present Day Lord. There may be sorrows holding you in the past as well – leave them behind. God is not bringing them up to you. Day by day, starting THIS DAY, give Christ the glory, breathe deeply and love well!
God loves you and He’s for you. The Great I AM is your God. Christ has risen to new life for you. Today is His day for you – wrapped up in everything that’s in it – along with freedom, redemption, anointing and purpose. Call out to Him in praise today and live in the Light of His Wonderful Word!
Jude 1:24-25 Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to Him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Isaiah 43:18-19 Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. “Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
II Corinthians 4:16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
Philippians 3:13-14 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
