Technology failed me yesterday morning. Although I deal with computer problems at work as part of my job, this problem was beyond me. Slow was the word and frustration was my response. I had posted the devotional and gone to drink a cup of coffee with my hubby, who by then was up and going. I noticed on my phone as I was reading another post that mine had not shown up. I went to the desktop and found that although it was there in facebook the “post” button had not worked. Not only that, the computer indicated there was no internet service. A simple prayer was shot up and still nothing was working. More serious prayer, more serious frustration with technology and anxiety shot up 10 fold! Finally both the computer and the internet were restored, but my peace took a little longer to be restored.
Maybe technology hasn’t failed you. But maybe people have. Maybe you have failed yourself. Your frustration level is sky high. You’ve prayed but nothing happened. You got more frustrated and nothing has worked. You’ve prayed more. You’ve done more. You tried to make amends, fix yourself, reconnect to the power and yet nothing seems to help. Everything seems to be in slow motion as you try to make sense of the breakdown and the ensuing headache that’s approaching with the continuing trials.
Oh beloved, it’s time to relax and let God do what only He can do! His timing is perfect, His calling is secure, His connection never fails! He’s not bound by technology and He’s not bound by the failings of your flesh or the failings of others. He’s right on time! He’s with you always! His mercy is running 24/7. Your plans may not be working right now, but His plans are going strong. Your best choice in the breakdown of the situation is to stop, drop and rest. Stop wrangling the situation. Drop the desire to work it out yourself. Rest in His arms. Rest in His promises. Rest in His truth. Know that He is God and His plans, every single one of them, will go forward. Trust is the button you need to push. With the waiting comes restoration. With the restoration comes brand new faith and fresh found joy!
God loves you and He’s for you. Repeat that as often as you need to in order to remain at peace and to receive His promises. His Word says your life is His and He promises to make all things work out at just the right time. You won’t fail in the long run because God will not fail you!
