FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY – READY

Five Minute Friday – READY

Are you ready for some football? Ready to go? People get ready, Jesus is coming! When I think of the word ready activity comes to mind. Sunday morning daddies looking at their watches: Ready? Coaches looking to the player on the bench: Ready? Savoring the thought of Thanksgiving repast: Ready?

Yet the Lord asks us to get ready and it’s nothing to do with activity. It’s a word of the heart. It’s an action required within. Everything from life to godliness is given to us from the inside out. We are made ready by the washing with the water of the Word (Ephesians 5:26) We are given the amount of faith to ready ourselves for living this life, preparing for becoming Christlike and to have access to heaven for eternity. He makes us ready, we just live in His readiness. What a peaceful exchange to the immense activity the world demands of us.

The Lord Himself is ready as well. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. Psalm 86:5 What beautiful words to contemplate the readiness of God Himself, the King and Lord of Heaven and Earth!

Oh beloved, it’s Friday. As you ready yourself for the day and prepare your activities for the week-end be sure to carve out some time to unwind and prepare your heart for God’s message to you – His message of Love, Grace, Peace, Contentment and Blessing. He wants to speak to your heart. Are you ready?

I Samuel 3:10 Then God came and stood before him exactly as before, calling out, “Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel answered, “Speak. I’m your servant, ready to listen.” (MSG)

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

I really like the idea of reading your heart. It makes me think of the work down to the soil throughout the winter and the spring to “ready” it for planting season. A farmer doesn’t just walk out on day and drop seeds. He has been ‘readying’ the soil all year long.

What are so steps you would recommend for “readying” a heart?

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Always exciting when something you write is understood. To ready the heart to me is to make sure you have the basics: You know that God loves you just the way you are. His love changes everything. You respond to Him in love and spend time in His presence. Listening to His voice, learning to hear Him, trusting your heart. The Word says to “break up the fallow ground” in Hosea 10:12. Learn to know God – one of the best books I ever read is Lord I Want to Know You by Kay Arthur, a study on the names of God. Love your analogy of the farmer and the ground.
