Wait For It!

As a friend posted about the relationship she is in, she gave God the glory. She waited for Mr. Right and God has brought him to her doorstep. She waited for him, and now she is reaping the rewards of waiting on God. She diligently sought God and looked to Him for her every need and God was true to Himself and has given her the best.

As she talked about it I remember pets are taught to sit and obey while waiting for a treat. “Sit. Wait. Wait for it. Wait for it. Go!” The dog patiently sits on mark until the master gives it permission to come forward. They keep their eyes on the master and his hands. They know they will get the treat eventually. They never get distracted or look away.

“Wait for it.” Have you ever heard God say wait? Waiting is probably one of the hardest things to do. We know what we want, we may even think we know what God wants, but He cautions us to wait. What are we waiting for? Why can’t we have it now? Waiting can be tiring and boring. We’re ready for life and we want to go for the gold and live life to the fullest. Yet when God says wait, we are best off to do just that. It’s a trust issue and we aren’t sure we can trust God to give us what we want. But His Word promises that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength! They won’t get weary, they will get rejuvenated!

Oh beloved, if you’re in a waiting pattern right now, then rejoice that you are loved and cared for. Rejoice that you know God’s best is on its way. It may be relationships, careers, purchases, ministries. As God teaches you to wait, He is teaching you absolute obedience that comes from the heart. As the dog looks to his master with complete trust, God wants you to look to Him for that same trust. He knows what you’ve been going through and He knows you just want to quit, move on, get it done. But there’s a heavenly exchange going on and it’s best you wait on God. Nothing is worth getting ahead of God, being disobedient to Him or choosing your own way. The value of what God has for you far outweighs the momentary desires you may think you can’t wait on or live without.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s why you can wait until God says go for it. You can wait for God’s best. You can wait for God to vindicate you, lift you up and bless your life with His best. What an awesome God we love and serve, who loved us and gave up His own agenda for us!

Psalm 27:14 Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.

Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.

Psalm 106:12-14 Then His people believed His promises. Then they sang His praise. Yet how quickly they forgot what He had done! They wouldn’t wait for His counsel! In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.

Hebrews 10:36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
