Friends with God and One Another

This past weekend we spent time with very dear friends. What started out as a 5th grade friendship for Danny has evolved into a faithful friendship in Christ between two godly men. The testimony and the providence of God is enormous. To think that God would bestow such a rich blessing and that even we wives get to participate in that blessing is huge.  His wife and I feel like we’ve known one another forever as well.

Two youth befriending one another, two young men testing life’s boundaries together (that’s putting it mildly but that’s another story), two adult men finding God and two soldiers of heaven’s army becoming ministers of the Gospel.  And that God providentially bringing the two back together after 40 years is nothing short of miraculous. I don’t think it would be presumptuous to say that Danny and Ronnie would do anything for one another. Their friendship has endured and been returned to them in amazing proportions for these last days.  These two guys share more than a friendship – they share a destiny in Christ.

How are your friendships going? Did you know that God wants to give you huge fellowship with people of enormous faith? He wants to rearrange the worldly relationships into Godly friendships. Friends in faith are one of the finest gifts God will ever give us. The destiny of life in Christ includes strategic positioning of people in our lives and us in people’s lives for Kingdom purpose beyond our wildest imagination.

This morning I pray that God will give you friendships in faith. Good friends, stick to it through thick and thin relationships. I pray that God will pour into your life godly people who will sow God’s love, grace and mercy as well as His Truth into your life. I pray that you will be that kind of friend – patterned after Christ Himself. I pray too that you will discover the riches of Christian friendship. Most of all you can remember that God has given you a Friend who will stick closer than a brother. I pray too that you will be that kind of friend for another. God wants you to know that you are going to need one another for encouragement, growth, stability, blessings and teaching. Yes, you can make it alone but God has given you opportunities to build real friendships with real people of God. Not all friendships will be as miraculous as the one Danny and his friend have, but all friendships of faith are meant to create Kingdom opportunities for you and for your friends.  He wants you to know that you don’t have to keep lamenting broken, discarded relationships. He has more in mind than mere acquaintances and He can do miraculous things in the area of fellowship as you look for His plan and walk in His ways.

God loves you and He’s for you.  He promises to give you so much in this walk of faith. Watch closely, for God wants to do miraculous things in your life including giving you friends in faith and sweet fellowship that will build you up, bless your life and create miraculous times for God’s will and plan to unfold.

John 15:15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.

Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing honor to one another. AMP

I Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

Proverbs 27:9 Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; so does the sweetness of a friend’s counsel that comes from the heart.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
