Last night was a monthly fellowship we have begun attending. The guys get together at a nearby church and have their fellowship and the ladies meet at a friend’s house and we have fellowship. Each month we are blessed beyond belief as we share about what God is doing in our lives and pray for one another. The encouragement we spread among us is like a wonderful heavenly health concoction. By the time we depart from one another we are so thoroughly rejuvenated and rested it’s hard not to float home. It is a real blessing and worth the time invested with one another.
When it was time to leave, the hostess wanted to show us her pool and play area. It was dark but they have lights all around. As we walked up the steps to look around, we were astounded to find everything in disarray. The plants were knocked over. The huge umbrella on the table was out of the pool area and down on the ground. Chairs were lying askew and one of the tables was moved at least 3 feet. We knew it had rained, but we never heard the storm winds blowing outside. We were oblivious to the noise, the chaos and the mess. We couldn’t believe that all this occurred while we were in the house enjoying fellowship. We were amazed. We knew that there was a chance of thunderstorms but we didn’t know what was even happening – we were having too good a time in the Lord.
Oh beloved, God knows the weather in your life can be chaotic, disruptive and damaging. But He wants you to know your safest place on earth is in fellowship with Him. It’s time to quit watching the reports of doom and gloom. It’s time to quit counting the moments between the lightning and the thunder. It’s time for you to start praising God even in the storm. It’s time to have a good time in the Lord no matter what else is going on. Inside His will, rehearsing His promises and praying without ceasing you will find that there is perfect peace. Life will still rage outside your heart, but you will go unaffected. You are not destined to be a victim of fear, worry, torment or lack during the storm. You are ordained to be a victorious overcoming believer. Believe God! His Word is your only Truth. God’s promises are written just for you! He says do not fear. He says stand till and see His salvation. He says you will win and not lose. He says even though the rains fall and the floods of all sorts may come, you will not be overtaken. Find a place of fellowship time with God where you become hungrier for His Word. Your soul needs the nourishment more than the weather report. You are God’s own creation in Christ to do valiantly and tread down enemies and speak to the storm and not let it bother your heart and mind!
God loves you and He’s for you. The more you spend time with the Lord, the more you are immune from the chaos of the world, whether it’s weather or wars or bad reports. Life is meant to be lived in faith, shared in abundance and lived with gusto for Christ who is in you the Hope of Glory!
Matthew 7:24- 25 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.
I Peter 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.
Psalm 27:5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
