Lord, I’m Carrying Your Love With Me!

wash me

I have to admit it. I occasionally do those tests on social media to find out which bird I am or which old movie I am. There are a lot of those tests. Since George Strait is a fellow Texan, I thought “Which George Strait song are you?” would be interesting. Can you believe it? “Carrying Your Love With Me” is me! The test says I might be a bit of a romantic and don’t need much of anything– except love! It went on to say I love LOVE!

I can’t think of anything better than real love. It washes all the dirt out of relationships. It whitens the laundry of endless sin. It umbrellas us when we are all alone in the rain trying to gather up everything hanging out on the line for all to see. It irons the rough spots and smooths the wrinkles out of our untidy lives. It gives and gives and gives.

Real love is God. God is love. This love is not ordinary nor is it changeable. It doesn’t step back when we mess up. It doesn’t look away in our injuries. It doesn’t say no when we cry for more. Because God and real love are totally intertwined we can’t have one without the other. Real love demands we look at the cross, survey the cost, measure our lack and step into His grace.

Oh beloved, you were born in love. No accident, no mistake, no regret. You were created to be In Christ and in the love of God. You were destined to shine the light of God’s glory and grace as you live in this love. You were never meant to be loved by anyone like you are loved by God. God adores and transforms imperfect people like you. He adores and transforms imperfect people like me.  He spies us as Cinderella in the backroom of sweat and toil and bids us to come to His Banquet Hall and He does the dressing up and hands us all the jewels to wear!

The Banquet Hall! We want to clean ourselves up and get ready, but God and His Love say come just as you are. We say Lord, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow! And because of His Great, Overwhelming, Unending, Ever present, Agape, love He says yes! This amazing love beckons us and compels us to walk in His precepts and live in His ways.

God loves you. Get that deep down into your spirit. Fill the laundry tub with it. Wash in it. Don’t worry about wasting it or spilling it. Use it up for you will find more and more and more! Even if you get back in a mess God still washes over you with His love. And because of that He is for you and He will pick you up, dust you off, carry you back and eventually carry you Home with Him! Rejoice in this truth and learn to live loved!

Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. NIV

Psalm 51:7 Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. NLT

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. NLT

I Corinthians 6:11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Song of Solomon 2:4 He has brought me to his banquet hall, and His banner over me is love.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
