God Says Come a Little Closer Beloved

Our grandson Caleb and I have had a long running play that’s turning out awesome. He began life by mostly saying “I want my momma”. I’d try to get hugs and kisses, but no way! I asked for a kiss one time and he studied my face, trying to find the words for no, when suddenly he blurted out, “Well, you can’t have a kiss cause I hab bedbugs!” Where on earth did he hear that from? I’m so thankful that he has finally warmed up to me and decided I’m okay. In fact I think he loves this grandmother and I sure do love him. We hug regularly and I even get a kiss occasionally. He’s my “hug boy”. This relationship started out rocky but with prayer and patience we’ve gotten much closer. He’s such a delight and full of wonderful surprises each and every time we’re together.

The reason I’m telling you this story is because God brought this truth to mind: Often we get stuck in our relationship with God because we have pre-decided that we’re only going so far with Him and no further. We like Him but we’re not sure about a deeper relationship. We want to go to heaven but do we really want to have heaven on earth with Him?

I have to tell you beloved, that life will be rough and nearly impossible without a deeper walk with God. A casual relationship with the King of the Universe won’t do. Christ is at the right hand of God the Father even now interceding for you and I to come to a closer, more tangible relationship with Him. This same Jesus whose Sacrifice and Resurrection called you into His family is now praying for you! He’s praying for me! He’s beseeching heaven to have His own become more comfortable with Him and less standoffish. Do you feel His prayers? Do you hear His call?

Oh beloved, you are loved! This is no ordinary love. It’s Perfection loving imperfection. God is on your side. He is Savior, Redeemer, Wonderful Counselor, Your Mighty God, Your Everlasting Father, and Your Prince of Peace. You and I have been bought with a price we can’t repay. That alone calls for allowing Him to have more of you. This marvelous grace relationship with God gives even more. As you let Him have more of you a wonderful thing happens – you have more of Him! You have His ear, His Word, His blessings, His comfort, His covering, His protection and more. The angels of heaven surround you. You will need all this to make it.

God loves you and He’s for you. That makes it so worth it to know Him more. Religion alone will leave you cold and empty but Relationship, ongoing growing and living, with Him is beyond your wildest imagination. Give Him a little more of yourself this day and watch as He does what only He can do with you, for you and in you. Every inch closer to God through Christ changes everything!

Isaiah 26:12 LORD, You will establish peace for us, since You have also performed for us all our works.

Psalm 31:19 How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, before the sons of men!

Psalm 5:11-12 But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may exult in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield.

2 Chronicles 15:4 But in their distress they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him.

Isaiah 55:6 Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near. (Amplified)

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
