Before we left for our most recent trip we knew our yard needed some attention. We also knew it was going to rain. So there was a small window of opportunity to get the yard mowed before the rain set in. Danny prepared the mower and got a lot of the yard mowed. But he ran out of gas and had to go to town to get more. By the time he returned home and got the mower ready again it had begun to rain. He finally came in the house and announced that he had gotten the entire yard mowed. I noticed he was wet and he said that he had finished mowing in the light rain. He didn’t wait for bluer skies.
We want to wait for blue skies don’t we? We’re not even sure if we want to proceed with our daily endeavors if it looks like rain. We run inside and vow to quit or wait for a better opportunity. Although there are some things that must get done, we do them timidly and without the gusto we have when the skies are blue and the day is beautiful.
Oh beloved, God is speaking to your heart and mine: Don’t wait – rejoice in the Lord today no matter what. Thank Him where you are and in the midst of what you are going through. Don’t wait for favorable weather. Don’t wait for bluer skies. Don’t wait for the outcome to prove good. Don’t wait to see if things are going to work out. Praise Him now! That’s where your strength lies. That’s where the Lord will enter your circumstances and bless you in the midst of the storm. Praise is the stepping stone to peace. Thankfulness is a restoration for it brings you back to the Truth of God when you have been concentrating on the things of this world. Praise is the cure for sorrow, indifference, timidity, apathy, remorse, fear, insecurity and more. Praise breaks chains, sets the captives free, restores lives and enlightens the eyes as you turn your heart toward the Lord.
God loves you and He’s for you. That alone is enough to have a thankful heart and praise the Lord all the days of your life!
